About Seventh Heaven Farms

Hi, I am Kevin, the owner of Seventh Heaven Farms.

My desire to farm started at age 22, when my new wife and I bought our first house with 7 acres in Fauquier County. I was gung ho those first few years — chickens, turkeys, pheasant, fruit trees, and a 1/2-acre garden. Unfortunately, most of the soil on our property was far from ideal agricultural land.

A few years later, children started magically appearing, one right after another. We finally figured that out, after 9 years, but no complaints, it was the GREATEST part of life.

After realizing I did not like being an employee, I started a landscape contracting business at age 28. With mounting bills to pay, the farming ceased — no time for it with businesses and children to raise. I did that for 39 years and operated a small fireworks business for 20 years.

I still had that dream of farming and growing food for other people.

In 2016 we found our farm property in beautiful Madison County. The soils were ranked as some of the best agricultural soils in the state, and the views of the Blue Ridge Mountains were beautiful. I started farming in a small way in 2017 and began to gain experience and knowledge. I attended several agricultural conventions each year and began interacting with other farmers to sharpen my knowledge.

In 2018 we built a house on the property, and serious farming officially began. We made our first commercial sales of asparagus on a Friday in mid-April 2018, I guess that was our official beginning.

As usual, I may have been a little overzealous with my plantings on the farm. I planted the farm like I was still 22: way too many asparagus, blueberries, cherries, pumpkins, and so on.

We strive to produce and provide a quality, flavorful, and fresh product. Our goal is to grow food safely, so you can feel confident feeding it to your family.

It is very rewarding to provide food for other families. It is even more rewarding to get to know our customers and become friends with many of them. Like every business or hobby I've participated in during my life, in the end, it's always been about the people I've met and the friendships formed, along with providing them the best product and service I possibly can.

It's about offering a product you are proud to stand behind.

We practice farming methods that promote high-quality crops but also protect the environment. We have completed our training and received our Food Safety Act Certification, and we have processes in place to ensure our products are safe for your family’s health.

None of my children showed much interest in farming, so I am hopeful my granddaughter, or soon-to-arrive grandson, will be interested in taking over some day. My granddaughter certainly has the energy for it!
